Q1: Can I add new game types to my existing iGaming license in Spain?
Yes. Under Spain’s iGaming regulatory framework, overseen by the DGOJ (Dirección General de Ordenación
del Juego), licensed operators may add new game types by applying for singular licences in addition to their
existing general licence. Each singular licence covers a specific product category (e.g., casino games, poker,
betting, bingo), and approval is subject to strict regulatory and technical conditions. Before launch, every
new game type must undergo full certification and technical compliance audits in line with Spanish
regulations. As an accredited testing laboratory, Gaming Associates helps operators meet these obligations
by conducting game and platform testing, preparing jurisdiction-specific technical documentation, and
certifying new game types for submission to the DGOJ.
Q2: How are games certified in Spain?
Every game offered under a Spanish licence must undergo game certification to confirm math models, RTP
accuracy, and compliance with responsible gaming requirements. As an accredited testing laboratory, Gaming
Associates deliver game certification services, validating math, functionality, and compliance so operators
can secure DGOJ approval.
Q3: What are ICS requirements in Spain?
The DGOJ requires operators to implement Internal Control Systems (ICS), which provide regulators with
continuous monitoring and reporting of gambling activity. As an accredited testing laboratory, Gaming
Associates certify ICS implementations, ensuring data integrity, accurate reporting, and regulator-ready
compliance.
Q4: Can the same certification body perform both certification and Homologation audits in Spain?
No. To maintain impartiality and regulatory integrity, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) requires that a certification body cannot conduct Homologation audits on systems it has previously certified. However, it may perform Homologation audits on systems certified by other independent bodies, provided there is no conflict of interest and full compliance with DGOJ impartiality standards.
