Asia’s gambling and iGaming markets are becoming more closely regulated as governments across the region strengthen compliance, enforcement, and monitoring measures. Over the past few years, countries including the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, India, and Bangladesh have introduced new frameworks, stricter controls, and expanded enforcement actions, reshaping how digital gaming businesses operate.
The regional landscape, however, remains fragmented. While some jurisdictions are moving towards more structured regulation, others continue to rely on stricter enforcement of existing laws. At the same time, certification is playing a growing role in helping operators navigate varying compliance requirements across markets.
Speaking to SiGMA World, Zuhair Rizvi, Director at Gaming Associates, said: “Across Asia, regulatory models are evolving at different speeds, however, a common expectation remains clear: compliance with the local regulatory requirements is essential for the effective management of gaming operations.”
